By car

From Rome

Take the via Pontina until Terracina and then on the via Flacca, towards Sperlonga. You can either take the Rome - Naples A1 motorway (Autostrada del Sole) and take the Frosinone exit, then go towards Terracina then Sperlonga.

From Naples

Take the bypass road from Naples to Mondragone, then follow directions to Formia, Gaeta, then Sperlonga. You can either choose the A1 motorway (Autostrada del Sole) until Capua, then follow directions to Formia, Gaeta, Sperlonga.

By train

If you're travelling on the Roma – Napoli and vice-versa railway line, your stop is Fondi – Sperlonga, then you can get to Sperlonga by public transportation or by taxi.

Sperlonga is 11 km from the Fondi-Sperlonga railway station.

By plane

The nearest airports are Napoli Capodichino and Roma Ciampino.

From Napoli Capodichino international airport

Catch the Alibus bus service (tickets are €3, and are sold on board), then get off at Naples central railway station. Then catch the Intercity or regional trains Napoli - Roma, your stop is Fondi – Sperlonga. Then you can get to Sperlonga by public transportation or by taxi.

From Roma Ciampino international airport

Catch the Terravision bus service or the SIT shuttle service towards the Termini railway station. Then you can catch one of the regional trains towards Minturno or Naples and get off at Fondi-Sperlonga. Then you can get to Sperlonga by bus services departing from the station or by taxi.

Gaeta

Gaeta is one of the main Italian summer destinations. This small town is famous for the myth of the Argonauts and for Aeneas, and has a lot of beautiful bays and coves to offer.

Formia

Legend has it that Formia was a stop-over of the journey of Ulysses. One thing is for sure, Formia was an important destination for Roman patricians, so the whole area offers a lot to see in terms of archaeological finds.

Some of the main tourist attractions in Formia are the Archaeological Museum and the Tomb of Cicero, the churches of San Luca, Madonna del Carmine, Santa Teresa, Santi Giovanni Battista e Lorenzo, Sant'Erasmo.

Pontine Islands

The Pontine Islands can be easily reached from Formia. The smallest island, Ventotene, is a small piece of Heaven, which shores are much appreciated by scuba divers. The main diving spots are Punta Pascone, Secca dell'Archetto, Punta dell'Arco and the wreck of the Santa Lucia.

Other destinations are the Island of Santo Stefano, Ponza and the smaller islands of Palmarola, Gravi and Zannone. Don't miss the beaches of Chiaia di Luna and Le Felci, Frontone, Lucia Rosa and its natural pools, Cala Feola and the views of Cala Fonte.
